I was in this bomb . I had left some friends after a few drinks and was heading to another bar. I can remember the two soldiers being there I was going to stop and look in a store window but thank god I didn't. As I got around the corner near the snooker place that's when the bomb went off. I cried a lot that night and I said prayers for the two young soldiers and their family. A year after that I left my family and moved to Canada . I just want people to know that I grow on the falls in the troubles and I do not believe in murder and there are a lot of people in Northern Ireland that don't . You are in my prayers.

I was a friend of James (Jamesy) and for some reason I thought of him today. Wow he was killed 22 years ago! I can't believe it, it seems like yesterday, just started me off crying thinking about him even now. He was a sweetheart. I was friends with his brothers as well and it was devastating to his family to loose him so young. I remember his funeral, I was 20 at the time and I had never been to a funeral that was so heartbreaking. To loose him so young (22) when he had his whole life in front of him! Ride free James.

Always remembered. I was called in by ops room but had been advised by local RUC . I remember speaking to the guys at X23 and the OC of the company at BCH, before heading up to lads in ladas. Nice to see TZA has not forgotten the lads. Shame the scum bags who carried out the act are still living! |

He was in Part time with F Coy 7/10 UDR. He was killed with colleague Pte Frederick Starrett when about to close security gates in the city centre of Belfast. The 200lb bomb was detonated by command wire. A second bomb intended for police and soldier’s doing a following up operation, failed to explode, and was defused by ATO. He was single and on duty at the time of his death . He was the 172nd UDR soldier to be killed.

A very popular soldier in the Company based at Ladas Drive, Belfast. Known as 'BOON' to all who served with him after the popular TV program of the time. He was one of my boys!
