Reid John 09/03/1977 Off duty. Shot at his farm, near Caledon, County Tyrone. Carroll Stephen 09/03/2009 Died when police were attacked as they responded to a woman's call for help. Constable Carroll was shot through the rear window of his police car at Lismore Manor, Craigavon, County Armagh when he arrived at the scene at about 21:45. Dissident republican group, the Continuity IRA, claimed the attack. This was the first murder of a police officer in NI since 1998.
